History of OU Health Stephenson Cancer Center

OU Health Stephenson Cancer Center is in Oklahoma City. The center is the only National Cancer Institute (NCI)-designated cancer center in Oklahoma. OU Health Stephenson Cancer Center sits on the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center campus. It is part of the OU Health System, which is Oklahoma’s only academic health system, and provides access to extensive research and clinical trials.

The OU Health Stephenson Cancer Center was established in 2001 to improve patient outcomes and provide statewide leadership in cancer research. The center focuses on clinical care, community outreach, education and research. It is also home to the Tobacco Settlement Endowment Trust (TSET) Health Promotion Research Center and the Center for Cancer Prevention and Drug Development. The center’s affiliation with the University of Oklahoma allows it to conduct research. It is one of the nation’s leading cancer centers for the number of participants in clinical trials.
