Dr. Michael S. Bauer is a thoracic surgeon in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. He practices at the Surgical Institute of South Dakota and Avera McKennan Hospital & University Health Center. He also provides outreach care at several other hospitals in the area.
Dr. Bauer specializes in minimally invasive surgery. Some of his surgical techniques use robotics, which generally offers shorter recoveries and other benefits. He treats a wide range of illnesses that affect the chest cavity. These include lung and esophageal cancer.
