Tonya has nearly a decade of experience working with the mesothelioma community. As a contributing writer and editor, Tonya produces informative content on the dangers of asbestos, support resources and related topics. She is passionate about helping mesothelioma patients and their families find the information and support they need.

Before joining Mesothelioma.com, Tonya graduated summa cum laude from Syracuse University. She earned a bachelor’s degree in magazine journalism and art history. Her magazine journalism studies at the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications sparked her interest in writing about medical topics. During her college career, Tonya wrote about health and wellness topics like exercise for seniors and the risks of vitamin deficiency.

Tonya also previously produced content for the Syracuse Biomaterials Institute. She wrote articles on graduate student medical research studies. One of these studies focused on a new method for cancer treatment. The student was working to create a new system to deliver cancer drug doxorubicin directly to a patient’s cancer site. Tonya’s experience writing about technical information contributed to her desire to make complex medical topics accessible to a wide audience.

Tonya now uses her writing and editing skills as part of the Mesothelioma.com editorial team. She helps ensure content is informative, factual and useful for patients and their families. Tonya said, “I’m passionate about the work our team does because it can make a meaningful impact on people’s lives. We’re equipping families with the information they need to make important decisions about their care.”
