Mesothelioma Care at Sanford Roger Maris Cancer Center
Sanford Roger Maris Cancer Center, which operates through Sanford Health, offers an oncology program that provides a full range of support for cancer patients. With a multidisciplinary approach, the team is able to bring in experts in various disciplines to coordinate care from diagnosis to survivorship.
The center includes a team of medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, palliative care experts, dietitians and other specialists who are able to provide treatment and support after diagnosis and through survivorship. The oncology team provides radiation therapy, targeted biotherapy and chemotherapy depending on the patient’s diagnosis, and their surgery team is also available to provide robot-assisted procedures. Health education is also a priority at Sanford, and they ensure all their patients understand their diagnosis and the team’s treatment plan.
Sanford also offers clinical trials that may improve quality of life and life expectancy for patients with advanced cancers. They offer trials such as immunotherapy for non-small cell lung cancer and other cancers, and the team will determine whether the patient is eligible. Palliative care options are available for patients in order for them to live more comfortably and manage symptoms associated with cancer.
