Meslthelioma
Meslthelioma is typically a misspelling of the word "mesothelioma." When asbestos fibers are released into the air by someone working with the material, then can be inhaled into the lungs and chest. Malignant mesothelioma, when diagnosed in later stages is a difficult type of asbestos cancer to treat. Victims diagnosed in the “end” stages such as stage 4 mesothelioma often have a short life expectancy.
There are certain Workers at risk for mesothelioma, more so than others who worked in different occupations. Those most at risk worked in settings where asbestos use was extensive i.e. Navy shipyards, Navy ships, power plants and construction. The symptoms associated with Mesothelioma cancer may easily be mistaken for more non life-threatening respiratory illnesses and can include trouble breathing, severe cough and weight loss. There are a variety of diagnostic tools available to doctors today including CT scans and MRIs to be able to detect this rare cancer. And while there is still no mesothelioma cure, there are more advanced treatments available to mesothelioma specialists to help prolong and improve the quality of life for those diagnosed with the disease.
