Rahway, New Jersey

Rahway, with a population of just over 27,000, is a city in Union County, New Jersey. Founded in 1664, the former manufacturing city has focused on developing its retail and cultural offerings in recent years, including restoring a 1928 vaudeville theater and its original Wurlitzer organ. The Wheatena factory was subsequently occupied by book publishers Quinn & Boden, successors to The Mershon Company, which began operations in 1897. A general decline in manufacturing after World War II has led to an increase in service-related industries in Rahway, such as finance, education and telecommunications.
