Professional Highlights
Dr. Rodney J. Landreneau is the Director of the Comprehensive Lung Center at University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC) Shadyside an affiliate of UPMC’s Hillman Cancer Center in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He is also a Professor of Surgery in the Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery at the University of Pittsburgh.
Dr. Landreneau specializes in treating patients with lung and esophageal diseases including gastroesophageal reflux disease, lung cancer, esophageal cancer and pleural mesothelioma. His surgical research interests include minimally invasive thoracic surgery, lung volume reduction surgery and minimally invasive lung cancer surgery.
Educational Background and Professional Appointments
Dr. Landreneau attended Louisiana State University School of Medicine where he earned his medical degree. He completed his general surgery internship at Parkland Memorial Hospital at the University of Texas and his thoracic surgery internship at the University of Michigan Medical Center.
Dr. Landreneau is affiliated with a number of professional medical societies including the American Cancer Society, the American Association of Thoracic Surgery, the Pittsburgh Cancer Institute and the Society of Thoracic Surgeons to name a few. He is also a member of the Coalition of National Cancer Cooperative Groups, Inc. and holds specialty certifications from the American Board of Surgery, the American Board of Thoracic Surgery and Fluoroscopic Radiation Management. He is currently licensed to practice in Pennsylvania.
