A ban was placed on the use of asbestos, although some manufacturers continued to utilize it without even letting their employees know about the danger. Had this deplorable action never taken place, fewer people would have been made sick and more lives could have been saved. Hundreds of the companies declared bankruptcy, but most were allowed to set up a trust fund for their victims and continue operating without asbestos.
