Dr. Carrie Redlich

Overview and Professional Highlights

Dr. Carrie Redlich is currently serving as a professor in both the Occupational and Environmental Medicine Program and Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine program at the Yale School of Medicine. She is also the Acting Director of the Occupational and Environmental Medicine Program.

Educational Background

Dr. Redlich began her medical career by attending Williams College in Williamstown, Massachusetts where she majored in Biology. She then went on to earn a medical degree at Yale University School of Medicine in New Haven, Connecticut and stayed to complete a residency in internal medicine. She then completed a Fellowship in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at the University of Washington in Seattle and another in Occupational and Environmental Medicine at the Yale University School of Medicine. She also attended graduate school at the Yale School of Public Health.

Clinical Research

Dr. Redlich's research and clinical interests include occupational lung diseases including malignant mesothelioma. She is also involved in biomarker/ molecular epidemiology environmental health which combine clinical research with cellular and molecular approaches. Dr. Redlich also conducts clinical immunologic studies into the pathogenesis of isocyanate asthma and researching the protective role of retinoids/ vitamin A in the lung. Finally, she also has interests in occupational liver disease, solvent-induced liver injury and practices clinical occupational medicine.

Publications

Dr. Redlich has authored and co-authored a number of scholarly publications including, "Skin Exposure to Aliphatic Polyisocyanates in the Auto Body Repair and Refinishing Industry: III. A Personal Exposure Algorithm" which was published in the Annals of Occupational Hygiene. In 2008 she also had her piece "Comparison of task-based exposure metrics for an epidemiologic study of isocyanate inhalation exposures among autobody shop workers" published in the Journal of Occupational Environmental Hygiene.

Affiliations

Dr. Redlich is a Diplomate with the National Board of Examiners and the American Board of Internal Medicine. She is also certified in Occupational Medicine with the American Board of Preventative Medicine and certified in Pulmonary Subspecialty with the American Board of Internal Medicine.
