Dr. Laurence Bates received his medical degree in 1959 from the University of Kansas School of Medicine. He went on to complete a residency in internal medicine at Akron General Hospital of Indiana and a fellowship in medical oncology/ hematology at the Indiana University Medical Center.
Today, Dr. Bates is considered an expert in his field and specializes in ovarian and lung cancers. He currently works at Indiana Oncology Hematology Consultants located within the St. Francis Cancer Care Center.
Patients diagnosed with mesothelioma are typically referred to an oncologist who specializes in the treatment of pleural mesothelioma, peritoneal mesothelioma or pericardial mesothelioma, or lung cancer.
