Asbestos Exposure, Mesothelioma Doctors and Lawyers in Butler, Pennsylvania

Situated 35 miles north of Pittsburgh, Butler is a city in and the county seat of Butler County and home to more than 15,000 residents. Proud of its 200 year history, Butler is the birthplace of the Jeep and one of the first cities to install bells at cross walks. Additionally, Butler is home to one of the original Ford dealers, Pullman Park, and the collegiate summer baseball team called the Butler Blue Sox.

Throughout most of its history, the city of Butler played a significant role in the steel, railroad cars, and automotive industries. In 1902, the Standard Steel Car Company opened one of its largest railcar manufacturing facilities in Butler, building some of the first all steel rail cars. In 1934, the Standard Steel Car Company merged with the Pullman Palace Car Company to create Pullman-Standard, a monopoly that was eventually ended by the government. The Pullman-Standard plant closed in 1982, and then was demolished in 2005. Today, the site is occupied by a strip mall, as well as the new Butler Transit Authority intermodal facility. Another notable business in Butler was the American Austin Car Company (1929–1941). The modern Jeep was created by the company when it was later called American Bantam Car Company. Bantam was also an early producer of small fuel-efficient vehicles. Today, major employers in Butler include AK Steel, Armstrong Group, Penn United Technologies, and VA Butler Healthcare.
