Port Hueneme, California

Port Hueneme is a small beach city encompassing 4.7 square miles in Ventura County, California. It is home to just over 21,000 residents and is surrounded by the city of Oxnard and the Pacific Ocean. Originally settled in the mid 16th century, the area was officially named Port Hueneme in 1939 and was incorporated in 1948.

The Port of Hueneme is the only deep water port between the Port of Los Angeles and the Port of San Francisco, and the only Navy controlled harbor between San Diego Bay and Puget Sound in Washington state. The harbor is a shipping and receiving point for a wide variety of goods destined for the Los Angeles Basin and beyond, including automobiles, pineapples, and bananas. Agricultural products such as onions, strawberries, and flowers are shipped.

Port Hueneme’s repeated cycles of building and development make asbestos exposure an ongoing issue. Workers and others exposed to asbestos may be at risk for malignant mesothelioma and other asbestos-related diseases. If you were exposed to asbestos in Port Hueneme and have been diagnosed with mesothelioma, you should also consider contacting a mesothelioma law firm.
