Clinical Trial - Phase II Study of IMC-A12 in Patients Diagnosed with Mesothelioma Who Were Previously Treated With Chemotherapy
The National Cancer Institute is currently recruiting participants to participate in a clinical trial to evaluate IMC-A12 in order to determine if it is effective in mesothelioma patients who have not responded to standard chemotherapy. Not yet approved by the FDA, this new cancer treatment is an antibody designed to block the effects of Type I Insulin-Like Growth Factor. IMC-A12 is known to block the receptors in cells that respond to Type I Insulin-Like Growth Factor. It is believed that these cells play a role in helping cancer cells to grow and divide. Partcipants must be at least 18 years of age. In addition they must be diagnosed with mesothelioma and have not responded to previous chemotherapy treatment.
