Atlasite Block

For decades the naturally occurring mineral asbestos was one of the most frequently used materials for insulation products like Atlasite Block. It featured several key advantages such as being resistant to fire, able to endure excessive temperatures and providing a strong, durable finished product. Asbestos was often viewed as one of the greatest discoveries and building blocks of the Industrial Revolution and beyond.

By the 1970's, asbestos was no longer seen in such a positive manner. The toxic properties inherent in the mineral were discovered as people began to realize that it was the root cause of numerous illnesses and diseases. After spending time around asbestos, individuals would begin to develop respiratory problems that made it difficult to breathe or function properly. They also developed cancerous diseases, most notably Mesothelioma. These conditions have incapacitated a multitude of people and claimed the lives of hundreds of victims.

Though it may seem natural that every manufacturer would have ceased production of products that contained this potential killer, certain unprincipled companies did not. This meant that even more people were unnecessarily subjected to the hazardous material and became likely to fall ill because of it.

Atlasite Block may have been a solid product, but anytime it was installed, cut, reshaped or otherwise altered, minute particles of asbestos dust may have broken loose. This dust can get into the respiratory system of people who are around it, and that is how the destructive process begins. The more time people spend around asbestos, the more likely they are to develop health problems, so workers who installed contaminated insulation products were put at great risk.

An outcome of this epidemic came in the form of class action lawsuits against the companies that produced products that included asbestos. New claims are made even today, and workers who spend time removing old insulation materials are still in jeopardy. While many of the items that contained this dangerous material have been professionally disposed of over the years, there is no way of knowing how much more of it can still be found in homes and work places. Any insulation that was produced before the 1980's is a potential hazard, a fact which must be realized by crews who spend time working with these products.

You may be eligible to file your own personal injury claim against the manufacturer of Atlasite Block or other asbestos based products. To find out more about your legal rights and what you can do, request one of our free and informative brochures.
