Hungry Horse, Montana - Work crews at the Hungry Horse Dam will soon begin removing dangerous asbestos materials from the area.
$3 million has been awarded by the Bureau of Reclamation to a company in Washington State that will handle the removal of the asbestos.
The work is intended to remove asbestos material from structures at the Hungry Horse Dam including a pumping-generating plant, power plants and switchyards.
The effort will last for five years according to the contract.
The largest wholesale water supplier and the second largest producer of U.S. hydroelectric power is the Bureau of Reclamation.
