Mesotheilioma
Mesotheilioma is a misspelling of the word "mesothelioma." Also known as mesothelioma cancer, this fatal disease is caused after someone has inhaled loose airborne asbestos. A naturally-mined mineral with the unique properties of superb fire and heat resistance, asbestos had been noted as the insulation material of choice for many decades. It was used in construction, manufacturing, shipbuilding and in residential and commercial settings as well. When left undisturbed, asbestos is not harmful. When it is cut, however, sharp fibers can get released into the air. When those working with it or in close proximity to it breathe it in, the fibers can go into the chest area and get stuck there. Because they get embedded so firmly they stay there. In some individuals, after a period of time, tumors can begin to form in the lining surrounding the major organs of the lungs (pleural mesothelioma), heart (pericardial mesothelioma), or abdomen (peritoneal mesothelioma). There are other asbestos related diseases that people have been diagnosed with that are not as severe as mesothelioma such as asbestosis.
Often, those diagnosed with mesothelioma experience a range of symptoms that may seem harmless initially, almost as if they were symptoms of an upper respiratory illness. These symptoms can include cough, fatigue and chest pain. Eventually the symptoms will increase in severity. Surgery, radiation, chemotherapy or some combination of the above are all types of mesothelioma treatment therapies that may be used to treat the disease.
