Mesothaalioma
Mesothaalioma is often a misspelling of the word "mesothelioma." It is very difficult for a patient who was exposed to asbestos at some point in time to receive a mesothelioma diagnosis. Mesothelioma is a very aggressive cancer and can sometimes take decades to develop after asbestos exposure has occurred. If diagnosed in the early stages there are treatment options that can help prolong life but there is no cure for the disease.
The symptoms of mesothelioma are very similar to other illnesses that affect the respiratory system and can include shortness of breath, chest pain and cough. This is why the disease may not be caught in the early stages as it is sometimes mistaken for a less threatening illness. Mesothelioma cancer is primarily caused because loose airborne asbestos particles are breathed in and become embedded in the chest of those who worked with or around it.
There are numerous asbestos products that were on the market in the early 1900’s to around the mid 1970’s. Those who worked with asbestos on the job or near those who did were affected the most.
Pericardial mesothelioma, pleural mesothelioma and peritoneal mesothelioma are the most common types of mesothelioma diagnosed. Check the mesothelioma treatment guide on this site to learn more about treating mesothelioma.
