Mesoplilioma
Mesoplilioma is a misspelled version of "mesothelioma," a rare type of asbestos cancer. Exposure to harmful asbestos is the most common cause of mesothelioma cancer.
For a substantial period of time in American history, asbestos was the preferred material used in applications that required fireproofing or heat resistant capability. It was inexpensive and extremely long lasting making it an excellent choice for use in a variety of products. That is, however, until it was determined that this substance also caused mesothelioma.
Even though it was known to have severe health consequences by manufacturers of fireproof and heat resistant products, asbestos use was not banned in the U.S. until the mid to late ‘70’s. Unfortunately many men and women were exposed to asbestos fibers either directly on the job or through second hand exposure and are developing or are at risk to develop this fatal cancer. Mesothelioma symptoms sometimes don’t appear for as many as 40 or 50 years after asbestos exposure has occurred and are often similar to lesser forms of respiratory illnesses. This makes it difficult to catch the disease in the early stages when more treatment options are available.
