Meslothioma
Meslothioma is a misspelled version of "mesothelioma," which is a form of asbestos cancer that is rare. Mesothelioma cancer develops after exposure to dangerous asbestos. It is a particularly aggressive form of cancer that is caused by the inhalation of microscopic asbestos fibers. Asbestos, an extremely durable fireproofing material, was used in a great number of products in many industries and homes until the mid to late 1970’s when it was deemed a banned substance for use in the U.S. Asbestos fibers are small and sharp and can easily become imbedded in the lungs upon inhalation. The symptoms of mesothelioma disease can sometimes take as long as 50 years to appear after exposure as the latency period for the disease is long.
Those who develop malignant mesothelioma are typically workers who worked directly with or around asbestos while on the job. Once a mesothelioma diagnosis is made, usually after the symptoms of mesothelioma appear, the progression of the disease can be fast. Mesothelioma doctors have state of the art treatment options available to them today and surgery, radiation, and chemotherapy are the most commonly used forms of mesothelioma treatment.
