Meslothilioma
Meslothilioma is a misspelling of the word "mesothelioma." A mesothelioma diagnosis is a difficult diagnosis for someone who was once exposed to asbestos to receive. It is an aggressive cancer, which can develop in as many as 30 years after being exposed to asbestos.
Treatment is sometimes also difficult especially if the diagnosis occurs in the later stages o f the disease. Mesothelioma symptoms are often similar to symptoms of other respiratory illness (i.e. shortness of breath, coughing, chest pain) which is why an accurate diagnosis is not always made early on in the disease.
The primary cause of mesothelioma cancer is asbestos dust or fibers becoming lodged in the chest area. Those who worked with asbestos in the workplace, including those who made asbestos products as well as those who worked in a variety of other professions in industrial settings like chemical plants, oil refineries and aluminum plants are the ones most frequently affected.
Pericardial mesothelioma, pleural mesothelioma and peritoneal mesothelioma are the most frequently diagnosed forms of the disease. Because mesothelioma has a long latency period, those diagnosed are often 60 years of age and older. Irrespective of age, however, this cancer generally has an unfavorable prognosis and doesn’t always respond well to mesothelioma treatment protocols.
