Mesiothioma
Mesiothioma is a misspelling of the word mesothelioma. Exposure to the mineral called asbestos is the primary cause of mesothelioma. Malignant mesothelioma is a form of cancer that affects the lining of different organs in the body including the pleura (pleural mesothelioma), pericardium (pericardial mesothelioma), and peritoneum (peritoneal mesothelioma)
Mesothelioma cancer develops when airborne asbestos dust or fibers are inhaled after asbestos has been disturbed in some way by cutting, removal, installing etc.. Victims of mesothelioma disease are typically individuals who have worked with asbestos directly. There have been an increasing number of diagnoses recently that are from secondhand exposure.
The disease has resulted in a number of lawsuits filed by mesothelioma lawyers against companies that manufactured or sold asbestos products at one point in time. Since the late 1970s the majority of asbestos products have been banned in the U.S.
