Meselthelioma
Meselthelioma is likely a misspelling of the word "mesothelioma." Caused when asbestos fibers are inhaled and become lodged in the chest area, malignant mesothelioma is a difficult-to-treat form of asbestos cancer that generally results in a short life expectancy for victims.
Those who most often develop the disease are individuals who worked with asbestos on a regular basis, including miners, shipyard workers, plumbers, pipefitters, electricians, welders, and auto mechanics, though the disease is not limited to those individuals.
Mesothelioma cancer is characterized by symptoms that may easily be mistaken for more common diseases. Mesothelioma symptoms include breathlessness, coughing, pain in the chest area, extreme fatigue, and weight loss. Diagnosed by means of a CT scan or MRI, the disease often has a long latency period and can appear decades after exposure. Once a diagnosis is made whether it is for pleural mesothelioma, pericardial mesothelioma or peritoneal mesothelioma, treatment is the same and involves the use of surgery, radiation, or chemotherapy. The success rate of these mesothelioma treatment therapies varies.Other common misspellings:
