Individuals who have been exposed to asbestos and have inhaled or ingested tiny fibers may one day develop a malignancy in the mesothelium, or lining, of the internal organs. Asbestos fibers can cling to the peritoneum, pericardium or pleura and may eventually become a tumor. Oncologists who specialize in the treatment of malignant tumors, like Dr. Conte, are a valuable asset to any mesothelioma cancer patient.
