Cedars-Sinai Medical Center
When deciding on an asbestos cancer treatment center, it is important to opt for a well-known clinic at which the latest treatment options are offered. One of the challenges that face those who have mesothelioma is that even though the disease may often take decades to develop, by the time it does show up and has been correctly identified, it is almost always at an advanced stage. Finding a clinic with up-to-date equipment and physicians who are experienced in treating asbestos-related diseases is therefore very important if you or a family member has been diagnosed with mesothelioma. In addition, it's also wise to select a treatment center run by compassionate professionals who will help you understand your treatment alternatives and with whom you feel comfortable. Sometimes, the right option may not be located near your place of residence; if that is the case you may have to offset the hassles of having to travel to receive treatment (along with the accompanying expenses for you and your family) with the benefits of receiving care from experts in treating mesothelioma patients.
The Cedars-Sinai Medical Center of Los Angeles was founded in 1902. The staff includes more than 9,000 employees in addition to 2,000 physicians and 2,000 volunteers. Through 60 graduate medical programs, Cedars-Sinai trains more than 350 residents and fellows annually. Scientists at Cedars-Sinai are also active in biomedical clinical research, which is a major part of Cedar-Sinai's mission; the center currently is home to over 600 clinical research projects focusing on:

Cancer diagnosis and treatment takes place at the Samuel Oschin Comprehensive Cancer Institute. Thoracic cancers such as mesothelioma are diagnosed and treated at the Cedar's Sinai Center for Chest Diseases. Cedars-Sinai thoracic surgeons have developed minimally invasive surgical procedures in the treatment of chest diseases. Patients receive the latest treatments for all stages of lung cancer as well as investigational studies involving innovative treatments not yet available to the general population. In many cases, surgeons, pulmonary specialists, oncologists and radiation therapy specialists collaborate in order to come up with the best treatment plan for patients.
Since 1992, Cedars-Sinai thoracic surgeons have performed more than 1,400 lung cancer operations with video technology.
In 2007, Cedars-Sinai was ranked among the "Best of the Best" by U.S. News & World Report.
