Texarkana, Texas

Located in northeast Texas in Bowie County, Texarkana is named for its location on the Texas and Arkansas state line, just a short distance from the Louisiana border. Texarkana, along with its Arkansas counterpart, forms the core of the Texarkana, Texas–Texarkana, Arkansas Metropolitan Statistical Area, encompassing all of Bowie County, Texas and Miller County, Arkansas. While Texarkana is commercially one city, it consists of two separate municipalities, with two mayors and two sets of councilmen and city officials. Residents and visitors enjoy a moderate climate and a variety of recreational and entertainment activities of Texarkana.
Home to approximately 37,000, the city of Texarkana is the transportation, commercial, and industrial center for this Texas-Arkansas area, as well as the hub for portions of Oklahoma and Louisiana; it is also the educational, cultural, and medical center of the metropolitan area. Texarkana continues to grow, its diversified economy is supported by manufacturing, agriculture, medicine, transportation, education and retail. Some of Texarkana's top employers are Red River Army Depot, Cooper Tire & Rubber Company, and International Paper.
