South Kingstown was formed in 1722 and is located in Washington County, Rhode Island. South Kingstown includes the village of Kingston, a census-designated place. Called Little Rest until 1826, Kingston was the county seat for Washington County from 1752 until 1894. Major businesses in Kingston include American Power Conversion and the Arnold Lumber Company.
