Established in 1816 along the bend of the Ohio River, Mount Vernon is a city in southern Indiana and the county seat of Posey County. The city is home to nearly 7,000 citizens and is part of the Evansville metropolitan area, which has an estimated population of 342,000. Mount Vernon has an active business and commercial climate. Southwind Maritime Center, located in Mount Vernon, is one of three Indiana Ports. It is located on 745 acres, 240 acres of which are available on the waterway.
