Rock Island, Illinois

Rock Island spans 17.1 square miles in Rock Island County, Illinois and serves as the county seat. Home to more than 40,000 residents, Rock Island is located along the Mississippi River. Lock and Dam No. 15, also located in Rock Island, was completed in 1934 as a Works Progress Administration (WPA) project during the Great Depression, is the largest roller dam in the world.
