By a vote of 63 in favor and 9 against, Franklin Park was incorporated on August 4, 1892 and became a village in Cook County. In the 1890s, it was Lesser Franklin's vision that Franklin Park's grassy fields, dirt roads and farmlands would become a residential and industrial community centered around the railroad. Today, the village of Franklin Park has grown to over 19,500 residents and boasts over 1,200 industries and related businesses.

Franklin Park's first industry was an iron foundry. Soon after other industry followed. The Siegel, Cooper Company and Thompson Steel and Wire company opened in the early 1900s. During World War II, Douglas Aircraft and Buick Motors came to the area. By 1948, 40 manufacturing firms called Franklin Park home. Town government continued to promote industrial development; they favored pro-growth zoning laws.
