Kaylo Canvas

Kaylo Canvas

Kaylo was a subdivision of the Owens Corning company, which is now well known for their pink insulation materials that are represented by a famous cartoon character, The Pink Panther. This animated pitchman never promoted the Kaylo brand, because it was discontinued in 1973.

The reason the Kaylo brand went under was the fact that its products contained a mineral called asbestos. It was in common use for several decades, but eventually it was found to contain poisons that can enter the human respiratory system and do large amounts of damage. People who get close to asbestos based products are likely to unknowingly inhale infinitesimal particles of it that may become lodged internally. Once there, they can cause severe tissue scarring, and instigate diseases such as mesothelioma, including pericardial mesothelioma, a form of cancer. Even though there are a number of mesothelioma cancer centers offering advanced treatment like mesothelioma radiation, chemotherapy and surgery, mesothelioma doctors at these facilities must often deliver a poor prognosis to patients as there is no mesothelioma cure. Kaylo Canvas was a thick, heavy duty product that produced no threat as long as it was in one piece. However, if the material were to be ripped or start to fall apart, asbestos particles may be released and become airborne. Not only can these fibrous particles float in the atmosphere, they can also easily become attached to clothing or most any surface. This can lead to individuals inadvertently transporting the fibers to other locations and unwittingly exposing friends or loved ones to the toxins they hold.

It was just after these health hazards were linked to asbestos that Owens Corning ceased production of any item that contained it. By that point, thousands of people had become very ill or even died after being subjected to the hazardous material because they were not aware that asbestos is a primary cause of mesothelioma. The conditions it causes are generally incurable, and symptoms of the diseases often take years to become noticeable. Because most people were not aware that they were sick for quite some time, many filed personal injury claims with the help of mesothelioma attorneys years after the initial exposure.

Even without the Kaylo brand, Owens Corning was held responsible for the ongoing lawsuits. By the year 2003, the company could handle no more, and filed for bankruptcy protection. This allowed them to overcome the massive debt they were accumulating in exchange for creating a trust fund to pay off valid claims against items they had formerly produced. Any person who was harmed because of Kaylo Canvas has the right to inquire about monetary compensation from the trust.
